St Albans Cathedral & Verulamium Park
Enjoy a satisfying time drawing and walking around the beautiful cathedral and surroundings.
Come and meet me outside St Albans Cathedral for a fun-filled day of art and exploration!
Our Walking Drawing Club is the perfect opportunity to get creative while enjoying the beautiful countryside around the cathedral.
Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you're an experienced artist or just starting out.
This event is not affiliated with the cathedral; it is just a meeting point for our event. On rainy days, we will go inside the cathedral to draw the various sculptures and architectural structures; otherwise, on nice days, we'll be out walking and drawing in the countryside.
If you don't have art supplies and would like to purchase an art kit from me on the day of our event, please email me so I know how many kits to bring. The kit includes a sketchbook, a pencil case with assorted pencils, an eraser, blenders, a sharpener, and a canvas bag to carry it in. I sell these kits for £12, payable via contactless payment.
If you're not familiar with St Albans, please be aware that there are many steep hills. Make sure you're comfortable walking up and down steep hills and can manage 4 or 5 miles.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and preferably hiking boots/shoes, as paths may be muddy. Remember to bring a bottle of water and any energy snacks, too, and either a folding stool or blanket to sit on if you need to sit and draw when we're outside.
**If you're travelling from London St Pancras Station, please take the fast Thameslink train to St Albans City instead of the stopping train.
Taxies are available at the station to get you into St Albans. However, it's easy to walk to the cathedral from the station by walking the length of Victoria Street and then turning left down Holywell Hill, where you'll see the signs for the cathedral after walking past the Peahen.
**There are multiple places to park in St Albans. Please check out the London Road Car Park, Westminster Lodge Car Park, or Verulamium Car Park, which are the closest paid parking areas to our event.
